1.5.8 is a beta, but we as Remedy IT do call it a micro release. We have a
good quality control system in place (see http://remedy.nl), with each micro
release we get better quality.

No, not really, we as Remedy IT did maintain this, but because of lack of
funding we did end the daily maintenance. A few weeks ago we did post to the
mailing list a pre announcement of platform sponsoring, MinGW will be on
that list, we can only maintain that compiler when users do fund the faily
work in keeping it supported. If you are interested in MingW, consider
sponsoring that build, then you can use it without problems. Contact me
