Thanks Mr. Schmidt, Mr Willemsen,
Indeed, It turns out that I did not set ACE_ROOT correctly. On a
windows OS is easier  (because I am used to) to know where exactly I
am in the path (i.e. c:\Ace-wrappers), but under linux/unix is (for
me) a bit obscure, one can open a shell window (i.e. bash) and it may
not be clear where one is. I opened the file manager and and I saw the
word "/home" in the beginning of my path, so that helped me realize
that ACE_ROOT was not being set correctly.
