HOST MACHINE and OPERATING SYSTEM:
Windows XP 32-bit
TOOL/AREA/CLASS/EXAMPLE AFFECTED:
XME import from GME/CoSMIC.
DOES THE PROBLEM AFFECT:
COMPILATION?
LINKING?
EXECUTION?
OTHER (please specify)?
Import.
SYNOPSIS:
Execution of a File -> Import XML... command to import an .xme file that was previously exported from the 0.8.2 version of CoSMIC does not work.
DESCRIPTION:
When you try to do a normal import, a "GME" popup error dialog window appears with the following message:
Could not open paradigm PICML
Version ID: {63989457-55EA-4F88-81AE-5BAAA78702DF}
If you hit "OK" on this popup, you get a second "GME" error popup with the following message:
Could not create the project (0x87650012)
If you hit "OK" on this popup, you get a third "GME" error popup with the following message:
Error importing XML file (0x87560012)
This time hitting "OK" completes the failed import attempt. Nothing is printed to the Console pane.
REPEAT BY:
Select File -> Import XML... from the menu bar of GME/CoSMIC. Navigate to a .xme file previously exported from CoSMIC 0.8.2, and hit "Open". Hit "Next >" when asked to "Create project file." Pick a new project file name, and hit "Open". Error occurs at this point.
SAMPLE FIX/WORKAROUND:
No known workaround. Tried this with 3 different 0.8.2 models - same problem in all cases.

Hi James,<br>
<br>
Just gave this a try and was unable to import an XME model from the prior 0.8.2 release, presumably due to a change to the PICML metamodel on 11/1 (per the ChangeLog).<br>

I would doubt that since that change only added contents to the metamodel. But, maybe it did.<div class="im"><br>

Any chance we could get an 0.8.3 migration script committed to the repository? The latest migration script available looks to be for 0.8.2 only.<br>
<br>

<br></div>
Yes, we can work on getting a migration script for CoSMIC 0.8.3. With this being said, when reporting a migration problem, please provide the following information (just like with any other bug):<br>
<br>
1. The error message displayed when the import fails.<br>
2. The output on the Console window in GME.<br>
3. Several lines in the .xme files before and after the line number that is failing.<div class="im"><br>
<br>

We had tried a nightly build prior to the 11/1 metamodel change, and noted that the deletion bug had been fixed for our 0.8.2 models. That particular fix will be very helpful.<br>

Bugzilla entries for more details on the problem and the nature of fixes<br>
applied.<br>
<br>
Release CoSMIC-0.8.3<br>
===================================================================<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where idl_to_picml failed to import the IDL3_Plus<br>
test in CIAO. This was a result of the PICML metamodel not<br>
properly supporting some of IDL3+ semantics.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where the IDL generator creates bad declaration ordering<br>
with ComponentFactory element.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where the CBML model intelligence was not executing<br>
because its event mask was not set propertly.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where it was impossible to delete a ComponentInstance<br>
element if it contained a MirrorPortInstance or ExtendedPortInstance<br>
element.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where large number of circular dependencies caused crash<br>
in IDL generator interpreter.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where the private/public flags were missing from<br>
an event tag.<br>
<br>
. Bug fix where the 'supports' statement on a component was not<br>
generated correctly.<br>
<br>
Thanks,<br>
