I would like to see a very simple extension i.e. shortcut keys to switch modes. I recollect using this feature of ViewLogic ('N' to switch connect modes, 'Esc' to go back to select mode) a lot. It’s a lot less work than moving your mouse all the way over to the toolbar and then trace it back to the object you were interested in connecting. Simulink's approach is also attractive i.e. it automatically switches mode, when you click on a connection point and start dragging. I however prefer the shortcut keys of viewlogic.

As per Akos' request for new (easy to implement in 2 months) features, here's one:

In an elderly version of GME (i can't remember if it was before GME2k) you could be in "connect" mode, and still right click and get a menu that you would normally get when you right clicked in select mode.

I find now that i am quite frequently deleting ocnnections from one FCO to another, and that this is usually because i am kind of in the "connection" zone (i.e., tidying up connections all over the place), so when i am making one connection, I am deleting the one that used to serve the same purpose. However, it's inconvenient to have to go back to select or to delete connect modes to do this each time (and doing them all at the same time gets confusing when i am doing this to 5-10 or more conns).

Just a thought. anyone else out there echo this?
Jon
