While creating the mga you will use an API that will insulate you from
the changes in the mga format. 

As for version changes, if you register a new version of the paradigm
and run your hypothetical AST2mga translator it will give you a file
that works with the new paradigm.

The only reason I suggested creating an mga file is because in my
opinion it will be much easier for you as there are many API's you can
choose from.
