[gme-users] Custom sub-windows in GME

Others would know more, but I do not think that GME supports this kind of extensibility without modifying GME itself.

What I I can offer is a glimpse of a capability similar to the example you cited that does not require such extensibility. CAPE is a GME-based modeling environment that provides it own model repository backed by the ZODB object database. The integration supports drag and drop between a repository browser and a CAPE project via GME's object browser. The repository browser is implemented as a GME component. So while this approach provides an accessory that is "outside" GME's application windows, it is inside the GME application.
