Does anyone have experience with running Java GME interpreters on Windows 7
64bit and GME 7? Andrew is getting an error, below.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

I am using the 32-bit JRE (the one included in the JDK 1.6 update 20). The
only error I get is the "Component execution failed" popup when I run the
interpreter from the GUI. Is there some other way I could run the
interpreter that would give me more detail about my error?

Thanks, Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Are there no other messages?

The Java Runtime Environment comes in a 32 bit version ("Windows") and a
64bit version ("Windows x64"). You should have a 32bit version installed to
run Java GME interpreters.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/GME is normal on 64bit Windows since
GME is 32bit.

Let me know if you still have the problem.

Thanks,

Kevin

Subject: GME question

Hi Kevin,

Himanshu Neema pointed me to you for GME questions, and I have one I hope
you can help me with. I've been trying to use GME 7 with Windows 7 64-bit,
and everything seems to be working fine except for running Java-based
plugins (components?). When I attempt to do this, I get a "Component
execution failed" message. Would you expect this to be a problem with the
setup of this component, or something related to Windows 7 (same plugin
works on GME 7 in XP)? One thing I thought was odd was that in XP I set the
JavaClassPath key in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/GME but in
Windows 7 it seems to be at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/GME. Is
this normal? Sorry for bugging you and thanks for any help you can give me,

Andrew Davis
