SYNOPSIS:
The ACE.tar.gz file downloaded from http://download.dre.vanderbilt.edu/ lacks
the configure file and and other files, which exists in the ACE.tar.bz2 file
from same site.
DESCRIPTION:
The 2 tar files above are different. One thing that is affected is the
configure with autoconf, which can not be run according to instructions. (
create a build directory and run the configure script ) . One needs to
create the configure script first from the configure.ac file .
It is working fine with the ACE.tar.bz2 file.
Please see comparison below for other differences between the
ACE.tar.gzfile and the
ACE.tar.bz2 file.

REPEAT BY:
Download the ACE.tar.gz file , and perform the instructions according to
http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/~schmidt/DOC_ROOT/ACE/ACE-INSTALL.html#unix_autoconf
The configure will not run , because it doesn't exists.
SAMPLE FIX/WORKAROUND:
Work with the ACE.tar.bz2 file .
