We (i.e., the DOC group) don't maintain the configure script for old
versions of ACE.  Just follow the advice above and use the "classic"
configuration method described in ACE_ROOT/ACE-INSTALL.html.  If you
need more "predictable" help with ACE 5.5 please contact one of the
companies listed at
