Van,
we are going to open source GME in the very near future.
There are some negotiating going on about the exact
license agreement. I hope these issues will be resolved
in a couple of months.
As you might have noticed, the way your models are
displayed is determined by a decorator that connects
to GME through a COM interface. So, you can create your
own decorators to do what you described. Showing the
contents inside the models, however, is not going to
be trivial, otherwise we would have already done so
ourselves. The in-place editing should be much easier.
BTW, you can start working on this now (i.e. before
access to the source), there are example decoators in
the distribution.
