To clarify this:

metainterpretation is a one directional transformation, i.e. you loose 
information along the way. For example, there is no inheritance in the 
xmp file, so there is no way to reconstruct the uml class diagram if it 
used inheritance at all.

Are you sure you don't have a copy of the metamodel (.mga or .xme) on 
any other disk? Are there no backups of the project at all??!
