Sorry for the spam, but a full-time software position has opened up at
our company and I know that a lot of very skilled folks read this list.

 

SpaceDev is leading the design, development and fabrication of
affordable and innovative launch vehicles, microsatellites, spacecraft
components, and deployable space structures.  The next exciting step for
us is manned spaceflight and we are seeking an outstanding Software
Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and testing of
software for our Dream Chaser manned space vehicle.

 

Experience:

*	Has at least 15 yrs experience with safety-critical flight
software (man-rated FSW a plus) 
*	Has lead a team of around 10 programmers 
*	Has managed a SW budget 
*	Has recent programming experience (need a "hands-on" kind of
person) 
*	Experience with NASA-STD-8739.8 a plus, but must be flexible to
break from it when necessary 
*	Familiarity with many SW processes ranging from DoD-STD-2167 to
Agile OO, and the ability to know when to use which 
*	Exposure to formal SQA methods a plus
*	Familiarity with a variety of software engineering and
configuration management tools 

 

Skills:

*	Object-oriented analysis and design 
*	Excellent C++ knowledge (e.g. exceptions, STL, template
meta-programming) required, Java a plus 
*	Linux, VxWorks, Windows 
*	Embedded real-time programming 
*	Microcontroller (non-OS) programming a plus 
*	1553 a plus 
*	GNC algorithms a plus 
*	MATLAB/STK a plus 
*	GUI work a plus 
*	DB work a plus 
*	Ability to rapidly prototype as well as write operational SW 
*	Good code comprehension (can quickly grok code written by
others)
*	Good communicator 

 

Job description:

*	Build and lead the team to develop the flight and ground SW for
the Dream Chaser space vehicle 
*	Work with Chief Software Architect to develop the SW
architecture 
*	Head the design effort, direct the implementation, and
coordinate testing/integration 
*	Participate in design and code reviews for Dream Chaser and
other programs 
*	Assist in software development on other programs as needed
*	Mentor junior programmers 

 

Requirements for this position:

*	BS or higher degree in a related discipline 
*	US Citizenship; incumbents must be able to obtain a security
clearance for access to classified information
