There is no BasicSP example in the current (0.4.2) release of CoSMIC which
I grabbed from http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/cosmic/.

Didn't the BasicSP example in the CoSMIC release work?  AFAIK, it should
generate valid descriptors from that model.
